Gothamist: According to police, the below video was shot moments after the suspect, 20-year-old Donovan Lawson, attempted to fare-beat at the Myrtle Avenue-Broadway JMZ station yesterday just before 8 p.m. The nightstick-wielding officer apparently approached Lawson and asked to see his ID, a request that Lawson denied. The officer responded by attempting to cuff Lawson, which he resisted. Be warned that the action of this video is all contained within the first few seconds, and it’s not pleasant. Lawson was taken to Woodhull Hospital and treated for cuts to his head. He has been charged with fare beating, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing government administration. The officer was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and treated for injuries to his hand and arm. The incident is being investigated by the department’s Internal Affairs bureau.

All I can say is thank Christ that cop wasn’t white. Can you imagine that? There would be a march, riots, and a call for a public beheading. Here’s what I don’t get. The kid broke the law by jumping the turnstyle, got caught, and resisted arrest. End of story. I understand the NYPD doesn’t have the best track record but when I’m tussling with a person and I have a gun on my belt, I’m not taking the chance of him reaching for it and using it against me. You better believe I’m going to do whatever I have to to keep them from it.

Side note: How about this chick, huh? If I just walked up to the scene I would’ve thought she ate his face off
